First Time College Students

ADMISSIONS TESTING ALERT: Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Technical College System of Georgia colleges have suspended Accuplacer Next Generation Admissions test. The TCSG colleges are suspending the provisions of the attached Admission Procedure 6.2.1p that requires student testing and submission of official transcripts for purposes of admission. This change will be in effect for the upcoming Fall (August 2021 - January 2022), Spring (January 2022 - May 2022), and Summer (May 2022 - August 2022) semesters. Dates are subject to change. Augusta Technical College will continue to use reasonable measures to evaluate students' readiness for specific programs that are consistent with the academic standards.
This waiver does not apply to Dual Enrollment or Basic Law Enforcement Applicants.

Applying as a First Time College Student


  1. Submit the “Beginning Student” Application for Admissions.
  2. Take the ACCUPLACER placement test and/or turn in SAT, ACT, COMPASS, ASSET, or ACCUPLACER scores.
  3. Submit one of the following. All transcripts must be official and sealed. Augusta Technical College does not accept faxed transcripts.
    • High School or Homeschool transcript with graduation date. 
    • Offical transcript, or score report, reflecting the student has passed an examination the state recognizes as the equivalent of a high school diploma (e.g. GED).
  4. Submit proof of Georgia Residency / Verification of Lawful Presence in the United States.

Students who have completed high school outside the US must submit an official evaluation of their high school transcripts done by a professional evaluation agency. Students who have completed university may submit an evaluation of their university transcript instead of their high school transcript.  NOTE: All transcripts from schools outside the U.S. must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service. The evaluation must be requested by the student. Unless noted otherwise, all documents must be originals and not photocopies.

Note: High school/secondary transcripts should be evaluated by the document by document evaluation method. Students with college credit or a degree from a college or university outside the United States must submit a course by course evaluation of the transcript.
