Augusta Technical College in partnership with Southern Company held a ceremony to honor the first graduates of the Nuclear Engineering Technology (NET) Program. The inaugural class of NET students were lauded during a Partnership Celebration at Burke County High School following a reception at the Waynesboro / Burke County Campus of Augusta Tech.
Southern Nuclear Operating Company and Augusta Tech were partners in the creation of the two-year associate degree program that prepares graduates for jobs in the nuclear industry. It is one of just 38 Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Programs in the country. The 23 graduating students ended the two year program by completing a five-week internship at Plant Vogtle. The Partnership Celebration recognized the students, their families, Augusta Tech, Plant Vogtle and Southern Nuclear personnel who helped establish the NET program.
The NET program begins once a year every Fall Semester. The class for Fall 2012 is currently full. Students interested in this program should contact Melissa Foster at firstname.lastname@example.org for upcoming dates and deadlines concerning the next class which begins Fall Semester 2013.
