Counseling Center
The Counseling Center is designed to support students in their efforts to achieve maximum success in school, in the workforce, and in life. The Center offers academic, career and disabilities counseling. The staff of the Center will assist students to discover and develop ways to problem solve and take full advantages of opportunities. The Center offers services to help students choose a career, discuss appropriate classes, establish academic adjustments, improve grades, and overcome personal barriers to success. The staff of the Center plays a prominent role in individual evaluation, academic counseling, career counseling, disabilities counseling, and personal guidance. Office hours are: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Tuesdays 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Academic/Career Counseling
Students who need academic or career counseling should contact Amy Laughter, Academic Counselor, at (706) 771-4068, email at alaughte@augustatech.edu or come by the office located in the 1300 Building, Room 240.
Special Needs/Disability Counseling
Students with documented disabilities must register and request academic adjustments/services each quarter from Karissa Wright, Disability Counselor, at (706) 771-4067, email at kdavis@augustatech.edu or come by the office located in the 1300 Building, Room 241.
Special Populations Counseling
Students who may benefit from assistance with issues related to being a single parent or displaced homemaker, those who are pursuing a nontraditional field of study, or those who have limited English proficiency (LEP), may contact Crystal Willis, Special Populations Coordinator, at (706)771-4070, email at cwillis@augustatech.edu, or come by the office/computer lab located in the 1300 Building, Room 244/245.
Wellness
The Counseling Center, in cooperation with the Wellness Committee, works to promote wellness topics to students, faculty and staff. Topics include: maintaining a healthy body and mind, managing stress, smoking cessation and safety concerns.
