SkillsUSA students at Augusta Technical College hosted their annual Toys for Tots drive. They wanted to bring the Christmas spirit to local children in need during the holiday season. The students put collection boxes all over the 3 campuses of Augusta Tech and asked faculty, staff and students to support the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation's effort in the CSRA.
The faculty, staff and students stepped up this year to provide local families with a Christmas they won't soon forget.
"We usually ask our students in Printing and Graphics (P&G) to use the donations to purchase bikes for Toys for Tots, but we wanted to do something different this year. We decided to get scooters since they are so popular among children,” said Sherrie Rowe, Augusta Tech Department Head for P&G and SkillsUSA coordinator.
Each year the Augusta Tech Foundation hosts a holiday luncheon as the last chance to donate. Following the luncheon, the Marines arrive to pick the toys up. They arrive to find numerous donation boxes filled with toys and scooters.
