Augusta Tech's GOAL Student Wins Occupational Therapy Student of the Year
Augusta Tech’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) student of the year, Sindy Barnette, was recently named Occupational Therapy Student of the Year at the Georgia Occupational Therapy Assistant (GOTA) Conference and Business Meeting.
GOTA is an affiliate of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Its membership is comprised of occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students of occupational therapy who work with people experiencing health problems such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, cancer, congenital conditions, developmental problems, and mental illness.
The members practice in a wide range of settings including schools, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, psychiatric facilities, and community health programs.
The objectives of our organization are to advance the practice of occupational therapy in order to enhance the health of the public in its medical community and educational environments through research, education, action, service, and maintenance of standards.
