Augusta Tech Culinary Arts Program Gets Funding For Scholarships
Pat Schaffer, President of the South Augusta Rocky Creek Spring Fest and owner of Villa Europa, center right, presents a $750 check to Augusta Technical College President Terry Elam, center left. The funding will be used by the Augusta Tech Foundation to support scholarships for culinary arts students.
Augusta Tech’s Chefs joined in the check presentation. Left is Eddie Walker, Culinary Arts Instructor; right is Kathleen Fervan, Culinary Arts Department Chair and Instructor.
The Rocky Creek Spring Fest, which is no longer held, was an outreach festival geared toward betterment of the South Augusta community. Ms. Schaffer, whose restaurant, Villa Europa, has been in South Augusta for over 30 years, said the purpose of the event was to promote networking and highlight South Augusta. Since the festival no longer exists, Schaffer continues to be a part of the revitalization of this community through other organizations.
