Augusta Technical College Holds Nursing Pinning Ceremony
Augusta Technical College recently held a pinning ceremony to recognize the Practical Nursing students. The guests were welcomed by VP of Academic Affairs, Rick Hall and Dr. Gwen Taylor, Dean of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing.
Practical Nursing instructor, Ernestine Johnson introduced the guest speaker, Ella Wheeler, RN and Preceptor at University Hospital. Wheeler reminded the students, “Nursing is an ever-changing profession and you must be able to evolve and you must evolve to be successful.” In addition to her motivational remarks, she asked the students to do two things, “keep your mind and keep your heart open” as they enter the nursing workforce.
Students were pinned by friends and family members and then proceeded to repeat the Practical Nursing Pledge and the “Nurses” Prayer.
The students who were presented as candidates were: Christal Callier, Amanda Fries, Rachael Goodman, Latasha Jones, Latisha Mays, Cathy Mickie, Ciara Pinkard, and Letitia Young.
