Criminal Justice Symposium to be Held on Thomson Campus
A Criminal Justice Symposium will be held on Thursday, May 19, on the Thomson McDuffie Campus Auditorium of Augusta Technical College. Augusta Technical College’s Criminal Justice Department is sponsoring the free event from 8am to 4pm. The theme for this event is “Communities, Law Enforcement, and Government Working Together; A Partnership Targeting Crime and Drugs.”
This symposium brings together federal, state, and local law enforcement, juvenile and adult corrections, family and children’s services, local clergy university professors, judges, and ex-offenders for a full day program on issues confronting the community and the criminal justice system.
The morning keynote address will be given by the Honorable James Blanchard, Superior Court Judge, Augusta Judicial Circuit on Drug Court and Other Best Practices to Deal with Crime and Drugs

Afternoon keynote speaker will be Colonel William Hitchens, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Public Safety on Anti-Drug Trafficking on the Highways and Interstates.

Closing speaker will be the Honorable Ed Tarver, United States Attorney on the Federal Court Systems Role in Curbing Crime and Drug Abuse.

Also as part of the symposium, there will be a morning and afternoon panel discussion on Laws and Criminal/Drug Activity in Your Community.
