First ADP Scholars Recognized

The first scholars in a joint initiative between Automotive Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), Augusta State University, Augusta Technical College, and Paine College will be recognized in an ADP Scholar Recognition program on Wednesday, March 31, at 6 p.m. in the Jaguar Student Activities Center ballroom at Augusta State.
The year-old initiative provided a $600,000 grant to the three institutions to enhance education in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The ADP Educational Partners for Success Grant provided funding to each institution to increase the number of graduates in the STEM areas.
With the funding from the ADP grant, ASU awarded new STEM scholarships as well as increased staffing and hours of operation for student labs. Augusta Technical College established scholarships in the Information Technology and industry certification fields as well as professional development opportunities for IT faculty. Paine College established ADP Scholarships in STEM areas and greatly expanded academic support programs in STEM disciplines.
“Augusta Technical College is pleased to be a part of this unique opportunity provided by ADP, bringing three diverse colleges together to advance science, technology, education and math majors,” said President Terry Elam.
The students to be recognized include the following: from Augusta Technical College, Charity Blue, Taylor Cook, Kiah May, Latesha Hightower, Robert Smith and Shona Woods.
